They always say "third time's a charm". Well, I guess they're right. I was given the task to bake lemon cupcakes for a family friend's son's pre-K graduation. This was the first time I've had a five year old tell me they liked lemon! Well, more power to you little man! I think lemon cakes are delicious, but I've faced my challenges with baking them.
Happy Friday!! It's finally the start of the weekend again. I hope everyone has exciting plans, people to see and places to go. I'm pretty sure I'll be stuck in the house again, but what else is new?! I'll be sure to make the best of it and prep for next week's posts. Continuing from yesterday's "Bridal Showers, Weddings, Gifts...Oh My!", today I'll be highlighting some unique wedding gifts for the newly married couple.
Good morning and Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost near, so hold out just a little longer. The official start of summer is only a few weeks out, so with that comes the start of wedding season! A college friend of mine is getting married this July out of state and the wedding festivities kick off with her Bridal Brunch in mid-June. Now, I've been invited to weddings before (two of my sorority sisters are married) but I've only ever attended a few. The last bridal shower I attended was my mom's back in '99. Needless to say, I'm kind of rusty on gifting for both areas. I'm not too keen on buying the bride fancy lingerie or expensive, small kitchen appliances. After scouring the internet over the past few weeks, I have found some unique bridal shower and wedding gifts for today's modern bride!
Good morning! I hope your day is going well so far. If not, I've got the perfect thing to cheer you up: a great recipe for some delicious blueberry pancakes!
Hope you all have enjoyed your extended weekend and unofficial start to summer! Even though many of us were able to hang with friends and family, indulge in delicious grilled foods, and rejuvenate before the week begins, let's not forget those who made this day possible. Memorial Day is a day for our nation to remember and thank our armed forces for their duty to our country.
It's always been a goal of mine to walk up to an individual who's part of the armed forces and personally thank them for their service. Too bad I always choke up whenever I get the chance! They are single handedly the most courageous and selfless individuals who walk this earth. They choose to protect our country and our freedom. They're some of the more admirable people working for our country.
So at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what end of the political spectrum you're on, we should all take a moment to think about and thank the many selfless individuals who sacrifice their lives each day. Thank you!
Good evening!! I hope your Saturday has been wonderful so far, and continues to be great throughout the night. I went to sleep last night thinking, "I want a bike". Well, I woke up this morning and bought one! My younger brother got a bike for his 12th birthday and we picked one up for my mom for Mother's Day this year, so I felt it was my duty to purchase one as well. I had my eye on a mountain bike that was on sale, but once I arrived at the store, I saw this one and knew I had to have it! It's a 26" Huffy Cranbrook Women's Cruiser bike. Luckily, it was on sale as well! Green is my favorite color, so when I saw it, I couldn't resist. It's an old fashioned cruiser bike with no brake handles, so I have to pedal backwards to stop. It even has what mom and I call a "fat seat"; a bike seat comfy and wide enough for our bottoms. I think it's the perfect purchase to start the summer off right and I know it'll get me out of the house more!
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy Friday! I know it's kind of late, but I actually left the house today. Shocker!! I took my brother to see Disney's Million Dollar Arm to celebrate it being his last day of school. The movie was pretty good, but really long (in my opinion) to be a Disney movie. I've been away at college for the past 4 years, so I try to spend some time with him whenever possible. Plus, he's a really great kid, so he deserves to be spoiled a little bit!
Today was actually the first day in 3 weeks that I've actually left the house with a purpose. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but the last semester of college is mentally, emotionally, and physically draining, so yeah, I've been in recovery mode for the past 3 weeks. But I recognize it's not very healthy for me to stay cramped in a house for practically 24 hours a day. I mean, I don't know how I got to be this way, but I've always been kind of a homebody. I would never go out on the weekends in high school other than faithfully attending Friday night football games. Even in college I would stay home on Friday and Saturday nights (I did have a little "party" stint during the second semester of my sophomore year).
I just love lounging around my house all day, not having to deal with people! That's a huge part of it. I don't care for people very much. Like, if I don't have to be around them, then I won't. It's a trait I'm working on. Don't get me wrong, I love to get out and move, but there's always a part of me that keeps me curled up in my bed on a Friday night. Maybe because being at home, tucked in my bed is what I need right now at this point in my life. Probably because it's the one consistent and familiar factor in my life right now while everything else is changing. Let's hope I can get out this weekend. ;)
Enjoy your extended, Memorial Day weekend!
