Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday and Labor Day weekend! Maybe it's just me, but I really enjoy Sundays. It's unlike any other day of the week. The morning is peacefully quiet. It's like everything has settled from the night before. People make their way to diners for breakfast or pour a nice cup of coffee or tea at home. Instead of channel surfing, people choose to pick up the paper instead and take in the serenity of the morning. And if you're like me, you wake up and head to the early morning church service. Yes, I attend the 8:00 morning service at church and love every bit of it. For me, starting my day with prayer, worship and a great message literally sets my entire day up.
I've been attending Church of the Highlands for a little over a year now and it's absolutely one of the best decisions I've ever made. The church is so loving and welcoming, it makes you want to come back! You can literally find almost any type of person at this church and that's what has truly drawn me in. They open their arms to everyone.
Today's message included some great scripture on vision and clarity.
Habakkuk 2:2 says, "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it". Written visions are easier to understand and follow through with. And Ephesians 1:18 really highlighted the spiritual journey many of us are on. "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people". Ultimately, God wants you to clear your hear of all the junk and build up that's block you from HIm. Once you do this, you can see what God has in store for your life.
Pastor laid it out to us in four steps for us.
1. Know God --> invite Him into your life.
2. Find Freedom --> forgive those who hurt you, heal your heart from the pain, and start with a clean slate!
3. Discover Purpose --> open yourself up to what God has in store for your life
4. Make A Difference --> there is a spot in this world for you to truly contribute
It's amazing how impactful Sunday is for me. It's a time for reflection, repentance and recommitment. Even if you're not particularly religious, take the time out to write down your visions, open and clean your heart and eyes of impurities and open yourself to what a Higher Being (God) has for you. Let's see how God can work for us in this new season.
Enjoy your extended weekend!
Happy Saturday loves! College football kicked off earlier this week and in honor of my alma mater, I'd like to say ROLL TIDE!! Alabama takes on West Virginia today in the Chick-fil-A Kick Off Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. I was blessed to attend four seasons of Crimson Tide football games, so it's bittersweet that I won't be back in Title Town (Tuscaloosa) to attend many more.
I hope you all are dressed to the nines for your teams game today! If you need some inspiration, check out my Game Day style inspired post here.
So here's to another season of college football. Best of luck to you and your team!
The Limited top (old), Worthington skirt (old), Nickels shoes (old)
What a week!! And it's only Thursday! Needless to say, ya girl is exhausted. I think I'm slowly getting back up from hitting the "40 hour work week" wall. But hey, I can't complain. I'm blessed to even have a job right now.
I finally had a little bit of time on my hands to snap a few pictures of what I wore to work today. For the most part, I wear business casual. A nice top, a simple skirt or dress, and normally some black slacks.
Hello good people!! SO excited I'm able to post in the middle of the week. This whole "9 to 5" routine has really hit me hard, but I'm gradually adjusting. And now that I'm working, I'll soon have a few extra dollars in my pockets to put towards a great purchase. Maybe a good book, a great pair of shoes, or even a fun electronic is what I plan on investing in. Take a look at some of my choices!
I'll be sure to keep you all updated on what I actually purchased! I'm really leaning towards the books, but we'll see how I feel in a few weeks. I'd love to hear what other good finds you all have come across lately!
Have a great week!!
Where to begin? Life is definitely moving along. I just finished my second full week of work on Friday. Everything is going pretty well in the office. I'm learning a lot and I'm doing well enough to constantly be praised by my supervisors.
I've also decided to apply to graduate school. I plan on getting my MBA within the next 2-3 years. I've started looking at schools and what their MBA programs have to offer. Now, if only I could muster up enough drive to actually open my Kaplan GRE book! I did put a study alarm on my phone, so that's a start.
And last but not least, we got a PUPPY!! His name is Steeler and he is a 6 week old German Shepherd. We picked him up after work on Friday and we're in the process of making him feel comfortable being away from his family. I've never had a pet before so this is all so new to me. He's been whining quite a bit, but I'm sure he'll be alright in a few days. If you have any helpful tips or words of encouragement, feel free to post them in the comment box!
Take a look at some of what's going on in my via iPhone camera roll. Enjoy!
Pretty little flower I picked up at work.
Planning a future weekend trip to Puerto Rico!!
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of this lovely weekend! See you next week!
