Yes, I know this post is three days late and I'm so sorry! Unreliable wifi, last minute GMAT prep, work, and tonight's episode of Scandal have really taken me away from the blog this week. But, I'm bringing you a sweet treat in return! DIY Halloween Goodies!!
If you can't tell by now, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Back in college, I would scrape up whatever little money I had left to put together a box of goodie bags filled with cookies, candy and trinkets for my family. I'd find stuff in the dollar section at Target or in the seasonal section at Wal-Mart. But my favorite place to grab cheap stuff is definitely Dollar Tree. Mainly because everything is a dollar!!!
I was a little late grabbing my stuff this year to make goodie bags, so I had to pick through the leftovers. It was no joke this year. There was only one aisle left of Halloween goods and the rest of the seasonal section was already covered in Christmas items! For more on how I feel about that, click here. I did the best with the leftovers I had to create some awesome goodies.
I picked up the last two packs of these awesome Halloween tumblers (4 pack for $1) along with about five+ bags of candy, two packs of the bendy skull straws, and festive socks all for about $15. I fund the pumpkin goodie bags at Wal-Mart for $1.27. Twenty came in a pack with twist ties.
I've never used cups before so I was really excited to incorporate them into my treats this year. I put the assorted candies in the pumpkin goodie bag, the goodie bag in the cup, and added in the festive socks and bendy skull straw.
Holiday goodie bags are great for any holiday and ship pretty easily. You can put practically any and everything in your goodie bags. Try to add something sentimental, quirky or thoughtful in it and send it out to friends and families! I sent some out on Tuesday to family and friends and they're already enjoying them!!
How do you get crafty when it comes to holidays?
Happy Monday lovelies!! I hope everyone's week is starting off well! Here are some of the latest things I'm musing over...
1. Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas // 2. Envelope Calligraphy // 3. Pointed Flats
// 4. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas // 5. Studded Valentino Flats
1. The Pink Sand beach on Harbour Island, Bahamas is definitely atop my Travel Destination list!! Who wouldn't want to walk along a pink sand beach?!
2. Obsessed with envelope calligraphy. It adds some serious style and personalization to birthday or holiday cards.
3. I'm ready to ditch my round and square toed flats in favor of some of these amazing pointed flats. Completely in love with look no. 7!!
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my absolute favorite movies. It's perfect for both of my fave holidays-- Halloween and Christmas!
5. Want to splurge on a pair of flats for this fall? Check out these classic Valentino Rockstud Patent Leather ballet flats. Just a cool $745.
Be sure to come back to the blog tomorrow as I show you all how to put together festive goodie bags for Halloween!!
Happy, happy Sunday everyone!! The weekend's not over just yet, so I hope you're getting out and about enjoying this beautiful day. Just wanted to share another (over due) look I put together this past week. Inspired by this look put together by Emily Gemma of The Sweeting Thing, I went out in search of a simple, comfy camouflaged shirt. I found the perfect cotton V-neck t-shirt at Target and couldn't wait to incorporate it into my wardrobe.
As relaxed as I am, I decided to pair my new comfy, camo shirt with a well-worn pair of Gap jeans and my new suede booties I picked up at TJ Maxx. I kept my accessories at a minimum, wearing only my gold nameplate necklace ( I never take it off!) and adding these funky Steve Madden reflective mirrored lens sunglasses. I picked these bad boys up last weekend at TJ Maxx right before I was headed to check out. They were only $10, so how could I pass them up?!
You can grab the camo tee I'm wearing here or at your local Target store.
Check out a number of Gap jeans here or your local Gap store.

Hello loves! It's finally the weekend and I hope you all are enjoying it to the fullest!! I've had it kind of rough these past 24 hours dealing with continuous sinus drainage, a killer headache, and a less than superb score on my practice GMAT exam. The only bright spots thus far are El Clasico* via live stream and the amazing versatility of this GAP denim jacket! *El Clasico is the yearly match up between Spanish futbol powerhouses Real Madrid and Barcelon in the UEFA Champions League).
I never imagined I could take one article of clothing and make it work with three different looks. Heck, I didn't even think I could incorporate it into my work wardrobe! With cooler temps rolling in down here, I decided my denim jacket from Gap was the perfect piece to keep the morning chill at bay. I pieced it with my normal work pieces (black pant or skirt, blouse, and wrap dress) and BAM! it worked. This denim jacket takes my typical work outfits to a new level. Take a peek at how I revamped my normal work looks with this versatile piece.
Happy Friday loves! Hope everyone had a great week! In my opinion, the holiday season unofficially starts with Halloween. But somehow it rapidly hops from trick-or-treats to jingle bells!! Maybe I'm the only person who notices this, but Thanksgiving gets swiped over. I mean, even Halloween gets glanced over too. I guess it's because I'm such an advocate for each holiday being celebrated to the fullest. If you really think about it, October is for Halloween (and now Breast Cancer Awareness)-- a whole month to celebrate with candy, costumes, and tasty treats. But once Halloween ends, its seems to automatically become Christmas! Why is this? We immediately take down our pumpkin decor and throw up garland and lights before the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade makes it to the end of the route. I haven't even made a week's worth of turkey sandwiches yet!
I know it's a tradition for most people to put up their Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm not really into that. I just want to enjoy the last of the month still munching on leftovers and watching football before I'm thrown into the Christmas/New Year madness. I mean, why should I have to limit my intake of turkey, green bean casserole and stuffing just so I can have enough energy to make it through Black Friday? I shouldn't! If I want to be in a turkey and dressing induced coma for a few hours that day, then I will do so gladly. I blame it on society (but mainly marketers--even though I have a BS in Marketing--how contradictory is that?!). We are so rushed with everything, especially holidays. Clearly, I don't need a blow up yard Santa just one aisle over from the Halloween candy! And I'm not too keen on hearing "Jingle Bells" before I can even plan this year's Thanksgiving day menu.
With all that being said, I challenge you (yes, you Christmas in July folks) to take each holiday at a time. Enjoy the harvest season that we are in right now before you start building your gingerbread houses and enjoying the spiked eggnog at this year's holiday party. Carve a pumpkin or two and enjoy the taste of hot apple cider before you devour those green sprinkled Christmas tree cookies. Take it one day at a time guys. Enjoy each holiday season as it comes.
I'm back! It feels like it's been forever since I've blogged! I'm in overdrive right now prepping for my GMAT in 2 weeks. But all in all, I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Is it just me or does the weekend seem to go by super fast? Never mind that. Another Monday means another day to get things right. So go for it! Stay consistent and productive. The weekend will be here soon enough. But before you start counting down to Friday, take some time to check out what I find interesting with my #MondayMusings. Enjoy!
