Hello loves! As promised, here's the last bit of my Southern California trip! Today I'm talking about where I stayed and played while in San Diego. Plus, I've got a little something I need your help with towards the end of the post!
Hola, hola!! I hope you all are having a great start to your week! I just got back from Texas yesterday afternoon and can I say, I am sooo happy to be out of the rain! Hurricane Patricia brought in some serious periods of rain while I was in Houston/College Station last week. Sending prayers to all of my Texas & Mexico readers (if I have any LOL) as you all deal with the remnants of Hurricane Patricia.
Since today is Monday, it's time for a #SimplyMondayMusing post! If you're new to the blog, each Monday I post about things that caught my attention over the week. It can be anything from new books to read, shows to watch, recipes to try, or things I want to try. Today's post is all about positive affirmations!
Life really is what you make it. And living a happy and positive life comes from speaking positive things. You've got to put good out to get good back! Use some of the affirmations from today's post to help you out this week! Stay positive and be in good spirits!
Happy Friday everyone!! I am finally in Houston, Texas! I'm taking some time to do a few things around the city before I drive out to my next location later this afternoon. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see what I'm doing before I blog about it!
I'm back with more photos and details of my Southern California trip I took a few weeks ago. The main reason I event went to California was to cheer on the U.S. Men's National Team in the Gold Cup! The game was hosted at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The U.S. played Mexico and of the 93,000 people in attendance, I'm sure 80,000 of the people there were cheering for Mexico. I ended up smack dab in the middle of a group of Mexican supporters but I ended up having a blast and making some new friends!
Good Morning lovely readers!! I'm currently headed to Houston, Texas, but before I board I'd love to have your help with a contest I'm being featured in!!
I submitted a photo in the "Best of Lafayette" photo contest last week after I returned home from my stay in San Diego. I had an amazing room, so I had to share! (Check out my Instagram!) Simply click here to cast your vote for my photo. There's a little less than 60 days to vote, so I'm accepting all the help I can get.
If you plan on being in San Diego any time soon, read over my Trip Advisor review of The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows, here or feel free to ask me any questions you have below in the comments section. I'd love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for your help and look for more on my Southern California trip later this week :)
Have an awesome day!
I've only been back from out west for a week now, but I can't wait until I get the chance to go back!! I spent some time in the Altadena/Pasadena and Los Angeles areas during the first leg of my trip and spent the last few days in San Diego. Today I'll be recapping my time in Los Angeles with lots of photos and go to place. Enjoy!
Happy Monday loves! I've been away from the blog for a little bit, traveling out west. I'll be posting about my trip to California later this week, so be sure to check it out!
This week's #SimplyMondayMusing post is a nice little hodge podge over so many things running through my mind right now and it goes a little something like this...
1. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
I remember being in first grade and carving pumpkins! As 5 & 6 year olds, we loved squishing the inner flesh of the pumpkin in our hands before chunking it in the trash can. But before we could get rid of everything, our teacher made us save the pumpkin seeds. Scooping them onto a paper plate, she popped them in the microwave and viola!, we had fresh pumpkin seeds to snack on! While everyone else is into the beloved pumpkin spice trend, I'm excited to use this recipe from Backtoherroots.com for my next batch of pumpkin seeds!
2. Point-Toed Booties
I have been on the hunt for a pair of pointy-toed black suede booties and I think I might have found them on 6pm.com. I'd love a tall skinny heel, but this hidden wedge means all-day comfort. Although they're still a little pricey for me, I will definitely be keeping an eye on them!
3. Cup O' Coffee body scrub by Lush Cosmetics
While down in San Diego last week, I stopped in Lush Cosmetics and grabbed some goodies for my family and some samples for myself. I've been reading about all these different coffee body scrubs but just wasn't quite ready to take the plunge and purchase it yet. Luckily, Lush Cosmetics has a body scrub with ground coffee, vanilla, and other oils to help rejuvenate and tighten your skin. The sale associate told me it's great to use all over the body, especially your derrière! Pumped to test it out!
4. Popsugar's List of 40+ Islands to Visit Before You Die
I'm determined to travel to somewhere warm to ring in the new year, so I'm using Popsugar's list of 40+ islnds to visit to help me figure out where to go. It's very unlikely I'll head out to French Polynesia or Hawaii, but I can always make my way to the US Virgin Islands or Belize. Any and all suggestions are welcomed when it comes to island hopping for new years!
5. Perfect Puffer Coat
While I'm planning a trip to a beautiful island, I have to face reality as I'm prepping for trips to the Northeast come November. As a Southerner, I only have a few coats--unfortunately, none of them can handle snow, sleet, or ice. Normally I would search for a more stylish coat, but let's be real, I'm a 5 year old trapped in a 23 year olds body, so puffer coats are the way to go. This Patagonia coat is at the top of my list right now. It looks warm and functional and I know that's exactly what I'll need to keep warm! If any of you are rocking Patagonia outerwear this Fall/Winter, please let me know if it keeps you warm!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! More on my recent Southern California excursion will be on the blog tomorrow!
I don't know why we do it. I'm sure it's mostly because we're flawed human beings. I'm talking about questioning our answered prayers + newly received blessings. We're all guilty of doing it at some point or another. But when you step back and think about it, we are sooo in the wrong for questioning/complaining about what we've been provided with by our Heavenly Father.
Just think about it for a second. Throughout life, we end up facing so many challenges and because of our love and faith in Christ, we resort to prayer for help. Whether it's through small groups at church, prayer groups amongst our friends, prayer request cards or even on bended knee alone, we know that we can give all our worries and troubles to The Lord to take care of. Yet whenever our prayers are answered, we somehow find a way to question it instead of thanking The Lord for it! We're quick to say, "Thank you Lord for this, but..." or "I'm so glad The Lord got me out of that situation, I just wish...". No. We have to stop doing that. We have to stop trying so hard to understand every single detail of the journey The Lord has us on. We have to stop analyzing every little thing that happens. We've got to start thanking Him 1000x more!
I'll be the first to tell you how god it feels to be thanking The Lord instead of questioning Him. If you've been reading my blog from the start, you all know how honest I am, and I'll be the first to tell about what I'm dealing with. I love this whole blogging thing, because it's like a small little community of positive people and experiences. With that said, I just want to tell you all how wonderful and happy you'll be once you stop questioning The Lord's blessings and start receiving them and thanking Him instead.
On September 30 of this year, I lost my job. Last day of the month, last pay check I'll ever receive from that company. I had a feeling in my gut about two months ago that I'd be let go, and it came to pass no too long afterwards. Don't get me wrong, I was extremely upset about it when it happened. I knew there was so much other stuff behind it and there was no way I could fix it. But here's the thing--you ready for it? I had been praying for several months for new job opportunities. My blessing came! It may not have been wrapped up in a new job offer or in a new city, but The Lord gave me exactly what I prayed for! So after my four day meltdown, I perked up. I was actually happy again! No longer did I have to spend 40 hours a week in an emotionally and spiritually toxic environment. No longer did I have to stroke egos to get help. No longer did I have to play nice with people I didn't care for. The Lord slammed the door shut on what I had been praying for for months!! So instead of questioning why or how it happened, I just said "thank you, Lord". That's it. And because of that, I am probably the happiest I have been all year!
So the next time you pray for something, make sure you truly believe in what you're asking for. Make sure you're prepared to receive what The Lord has for you--because no matter what, it's exactly what He has planned for you all along. And lastly, above all else, be sure the thank Him. We're so blessed to be children of The Most High and to have such immediate access to Him is more than we could ever ask for.
Praying you all have a blessed and happy week!
