Summer is unofficially over friends! Labor Day weekend has come and gone and work and classes are back in full swing. I spent the long weekend down in Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores with a few friends of mine and absolutely loved it! I bought this swimsuit earlier in the summer and I find it funny how I didn't get the chance to wear it until the absolute end! I knew I wanted a white swimsuit but was concerned about how it would look. Plus, I knew I wanted one that wasn't so pricey. I scoured the internet for a while and found my white spaghetti strap crochet accent swimsuit on SheIn.com. Other than a funky little crochet tan line on my stomach after spending all day on the beach, I really like my swimsuit! *I know people are skeptical about SheIn, but just be sure to read the reviews and check out the pictures prior to purchasing.
Be sure to check out the blog later this week as I detail my trip to Gulf Shores! Have a great weekend!
I'm doing something a little differently on the blog today by featuring an up and coming business! I've known Tara Youngblood since 2011 when we crossed the Theta Sigma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at The University of Alabama. Now, five years later, Tara is successfully running her own Public Relations company. I took a bit of time to interview her about her decision to start a business, her future goals, and what Exposure has to offer to its clients. Check it out below!
Q: What is Exposure?
A: The purpose of Exposure, The Ultimate Gathering, is to empower and educate aspiring entrepreneurs. Exposure provides a platform that promotes open and intellectual discussions with influential and experienced individuals in their respective fields. Each event will allow attendees to come together in a social and relaxed environment.
Q: Why start this business now?
A: Over the past couple of years I have noticed a gap when it comes to breaking into various industries. So I decided to provide a platform that will allow them to network and connect with other like minded individuals. As an entrepreneur; it can be difficult getting our foot out there and making that first step. We are sometimes lost on who to contact, landing the right business deal/partner, and more. Exposure is about “exposing” them to the right people, the right deals, and the right business partner. It’s all about building up that next business or entrepreneur.
Q: Are there any aspects or features of Exposure that will set you apart from other competitors within the field of networking companies?
A: There is no competition, this is not about competition. Our platform will always be different because we have set out to create such a standard that is our own. We don’t want this to become a “networking event” this is an experience and an opportunity for everyone that gets involved. Each city that we tour we are bringing together the entire community, leaders, entertainment, and more. The atmosphere and environment is everything to us.
Q: What are some of your upcoming events?
A: This Fall we will host “The Ultimate Gathering” which is an evening of food, entertainment, vendors, and of course hardcore networking.
Q: What do you hope to provide to your clients and event attendees?
A: We hope to provide them with great knowledge, opportunities, motivation, and an experience that they look forward to seeing again. It’s important to us that each person leaves with a new connection, business deal, or an understanding of how to break into their respective industry. We want the atmosphere to be refreshing, modern, professional, but still relaxing and just fun! This is social event for ALL.
Q: Social media is basically everyone’s second language nowadays- any tips on how to use social media to help network with others better?
A: Consistency! Research what social media outlets are best for your industry, and connect with the right people!
Q:Exposure helps professionals across various industries; what led you all to create a business that reaches so far? Why not concentrate on just a few industries?
A: We believe in the success for all no matter the background or industry. It would be easier to concentrate on a few industries but why limit ourselves? You never know who could help your business. You might be a boutique owner and end up meeting an investor at our event. Or you might be a singer and meet a Publicist or Organization leader who is seeking someone to sing at their upcoming event. You can always make a connection, it’s just about being in the right environment and around the right people.
Q: We know Exposure will be hosting large events- will there be events in smaller settings too?
A: Yes, we will also have smaller and intimate events in 2017 along with going into the colleges.
Q: What are five things Exposure plans to get accomplished within the company’s first year?
Oh, well hello there! So happy to be back on the blog again. It's a new season (literally & metaphorically) in life for me and I'm fully embracing it.
Since my last post in July, I left my most recent job, packed up everything in a U-Haul and moved back to Tuscaloosa to start working on my Master's degree. I'm so happy to have my own space again but even happier that I'm positioning myself for success!
Graduate school is in full swing and it's nothing like undergrad! I mean, I don't think I've ever read this much in my entire life. Not to mention all the outside preparation that's required. Grad school is like having a full-time job! I get to class at 8am or 9:30am and typically don't leave campus until 5pm. Overall, I'm overjoyed and wouldn't mind staying in the library all night if I had to!
As a business student, we have to dress in business casual daily. It makes total sense since we'll be in various business settings after graduation. The look above is a bit dressier than what I normally wear to class, but it's great for presentation days! You'll notice this year that my style posts will now consists of more business casual looks in addition to my everyday and Gameday looks!
I've decided that my business casual style will be a mix of my easy going style and the effortless business style of Rachel Zane (aka Meghan Markle's character on Suits). I'll be sure to link lots of options for you all down below!
Similar top options here, here, and here. Similar skirt options here, here, here, and here. Similar shoe options here and here.
Like always, be sure to follow me on social media (links are in the side bar) and here on the blog as I continue to enjoy this new phase of life! I've got a few style post coming up this week along with a travel/weekend recap post!
Hello, I'm Margo.
