With Valentine's Day only a little more than a week away I thought it would be exciting to share this easy to make sugar cookie recipe with you! I used this sugar cookie recipe but decided to wing it on the cookie style/design. Like the recipe says, these taste nearly identical to Pillsbury's seasonal sugar cookies. I LOVE Pillsbury's seasonal sugar cookies so much that I tend to buy at least 5 boxes of cookies at a time. By the time I bring them home and bake them, I've already eaten about two dozen. *No shame in my game!
Keeping in theme with the holiday, I decided to use heart and lip cookie cutters I found at my local Hobby Lobby store. They were less than $4 + 30% off!
*Baking tip: Bake your cookies on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. The cookies bake much more evenly and slide right off with no problems!
Now time for the fun part! Decorating!! You can decorate your cookies anyway you want. Sprinkles, frosting, glaze, fancy, simple- you name it, you can do it! I quickly whipped up a vanilla buttercream frosting (1 stick butter, 2 Cups powdered sugar, 1-2 Tbsp. vanilla extract, a couple dashes of heavy whipping cream) and split it in half so I could have both white and red frosting. And after that, it was time to decorate!
Sprinkles, sprinkles, and more sprinkles!
Cookies, cakes, candies, and chocolates are hands down the best part of Valentine's Day! I'll be devouring these pretties tonight! Enjoy!
Just wanted to highlight the Christmas holiday in our house! This was by far one the best Christmas I've ever had. Partly because I was able to gift some pretty awesome gifts and because I was able to settle further in my walk with Christ! Check out my Christmas holiday and the month of December in the gallery below! (mouse over the photos for captions!)
December was a great month for me! I was able to do a great number of things this year that I haven't been able to do over the past odd number of years. For example, this year, I sent out my first batch of Christmas cards! My parents always send cards on behalf of our family, but to be able to send my own is quite fulfilling. Besides sending out Christmas cards to friends and family, I was able to convince my mom to purchase a live tree. We haven't had a live tree since before my younger brother was born! And after searching 4 grocery stores, I finally found the Christmas tree, Snowman, and Reindeer shape cookies by Pillsbury. These are the only sugar cookies I eat when Christmas comes around. I'd be lying to you if I said I only had a few. Guys, I purchased 8 boxes. (please don't judge me). But beyond the cards, and the fresh cut tree, and sugar cookies, I was able to spend some quality time with my family & friends and reflect on my growing relationship with Christ.
I hope you all had a great holiday! Let's gear up for the new year! A few exciting updates will be coming to the blog so be sure to visit regularly!
