On the eve of my New Years vacation and only a few days until the start of 2016 I want to recap my year of travels with you all! Growing up my family rarely ever traveled. My parents were always working and my brother and I never got a pass to skip school. My first trip to the beach wasn't until I was in 10th grade and I didn't visit fun cities like Dallas, Baton Rouge, and Nashville until I was in college. I was a homebody ready to see what else was out there! It wasn't until this past June that I took my first ever plane ride! Since then I've been on many, many more flights and learned how to purposefully pack a carry-on, navigate major airports, and diligently search for coupon codes for car rentals (because that young driver fee is no joke!). Not to mention finding awesome hotels and Airbnbs to stay in! Now, don't get me wrong, I have been extremely frivolous with my travels this year. $500 round trip tickets, $200 car rentals, and the countless dollars I've spent on sporting event tickets definitely adds up! But the hundreds of pictures, new friends I've made, and exciting experiences are worth every single penny--tenfold! I'm sitting here just thinking about it all! I've crossed the Ambassadors Bridge to have lunch in Canada, cut my work day in half to watch international soccer in Atlanta, had hours long conversations with cute Uber drivers in Boston, navigated the strenuous freeways of Southern California, hung out at Balboa Park in San Diego, drove through rain bands of Hurricane Patricia in Texas, and made it to the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis! So I hope this post inspires you all to pack a bag, book a ticket and just go! Visit a new place...try a new meal...make new friends...and keep those memories forever! I promise, if a girl from small town Alabama can hop on a flight at a moments notice and travel around the country alone, you can do it to! Be sure to visit the blog next week as I recap my upcoming California vacation! xo,
