This blog post title is the only place you'll ever see Auburn before Alabama! I had the to opportunity to spend time with family down in Auburn this past weekend. As most of you know, I never turn down an opportunity to venture out of town! Even if it's only about an hour away from home! My aunt and uncle are literally the most kind and hospitable people I know! They always invite me over when they come down from the East Coast and I love seeing them! The best thing about their place in Auburn is that it's on lots of land. They have a farm and a pond, and the room I stay in has the best view of the pond and surrounding trees. Since it's out from the city limits it's so peaceful and quiet! I mean come on, look at the water! It's almost the size of a small lake! After a sweet little function Saturday night and an awesome church service on Sunday morning, my sweet aunt decided to brave the ridiculous summer heat with me and came along as I explored downtown and the university campus. Auburn is known as the "Loveliest Little Village on the Plains" and I can't lie, it lives up to its name! Being that it's summer time and classes are smaller, Auburn is like a cute, little sleepy town-- almost something you'd find in a Harper Lee book. *Fun fact: as a high school senior, I took a campus tour of Auburn University and considered submitting an application (I'm an equal-opportunity learner) -- we all know how that ended! Proud Bama alum over here, whoop whoop! Whenever I travel to new places, I try to find shops or eateries unique to that area. Although I didn't make it to D Square Donuts (where the donuts are shaped like squares), I did make my way to Toomer's Drugs to grab their "Special Formula Lemonade". Let's just say, after walking around for an hour in 95 degree heat, that was the best lemonade I've ever had!
You'd never catch me down here if it weren't for family or the Iron Bowl, but be sure to visit Auburn when you get the chance. It's pretty nice. xo, Margo P.S. Since I was just there for the weekend, I only took one bag with me. I'll do a post later this week on how to travel light!
