Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday and Labor Day weekend! Maybe it's just me, but I really enjoy Sundays. It's unlike any other day of the week. The morning is peacefully quiet. It's like everything has settled from the night before. People make their way to diners for breakfast or pour a nice cup of coffee or tea at home. Instead of channel surfing, people choose to pick up the paper instead and take in the serenity of the morning. And if you're like me, you wake up and head to the early morning church service. Yes, I attend the 8:00 morning service at church and love every bit of it. For me, starting my day with prayer, worship and a great message literally sets my entire day up.
I've been attending Church of the Highlands for a little over a year now and it's absolutely one of the best decisions I've ever made. The church is so loving and welcoming, it makes you want to come back! You can literally find almost any type of person at this church and that's what has truly drawn me in. They open their arms to everyone.
Today's message included some great scripture on vision and clarity.
Habakkuk 2:2 says, "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it". Written visions are easier to understand and follow through with. And Ephesians 1:18 really highlighted the spiritual journey many of us are on. "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people". Ultimately, God wants you to clear your hear of all the junk and build up that's block you from HIm. Once you do this, you can see what God has in store for your life.
Pastor laid it out to us in four steps for us.
1. Know God --> invite Him into your life.
2. Find Freedom --> forgive those who hurt you, heal your heart from the pain, and start with a clean slate!
3. Discover Purpose --> open yourself up to what God has in store for your life
4. Make A Difference --> there is a spot in this world for you to truly contribute
It's amazing how impactful Sunday is for me. It's a time for reflection, repentance and recommitment. Even if you're not particularly religious, take the time out to write down your visions, open and clean your heart and eyes of impurities and open yourself to what a Higher Being (God) has for you. Let's see how God can work for us in this new season.
Enjoy your extended weekend!
