Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the start of the holiday season! I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all about the perfect make-up experience I had not too long ago!
Now, just so we all have an understanding, I rarely ever wear make-up. And by make-up I mean clear mascara, Burt's Bees chapstick, and flesh-toned Cover Girl eye shadow that I've had since high school. *Please, pick your jaw up off of the floor. Thanks.* I had severe acne from the age of 10 to 21 so wearing make-up just wasn't an option for me. No concealer in the world can hide deep, cystic pimples ya'll. But once my dermatologist developed a regimen for me that healed my acne, I felt more confident. But even now, I still have no clue on how to shop for and apply make up. I mean, I'm lucky I haven't poked my eyes out with the mascara brush yet! And DO NOT get me started on liquid eyeliner. It's like you have to have a degree and a license in order to put that stuff on! And glory be to God for keeping me from getting an eye infection with that prehistoric eyeshadow--I'm throwing it away today, PROMISE!
Luckily, not too long ago I had the chance to have my make-up professionally done by Atlanta based make-up artist, Curlese Benson ("CeCe")! I told her about my not-exsitent make-up skills/knowledge and how I wanted a really simple look for some blog photos I was shooting later that day. I wanted to still "look like myself" but without the flaws (like dark marks, spots, etc.). And she gave me just that! She shaped up my eyebrows suuuuper nice, evened out my skin tone by blending foundation colors (my forehead is darker than the rest of my face) and gave me a sweet pink lip ("Snob" by MAC). She added a nice flesh-toned eye shadow, smooth cat eye, and lots of mascara to lengthen and define my eyelashes since I decided against false lashes.
CeCe is so nice, has beautiful and precise technique, and gave me exactly what I asked for. The make-up wasn't caked on heavy at all and I still looked like myself at the end of it...only better! Although she's based in Atlanta, she does travel around from time to time. Be sure to book through her Style Seat page here, and check out her work on Instagram (@BeautyByAllMeans1). Tell her Margo sent you!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll see you all back here next week!
