Happy Halloween friends! I hope you're all celebrating with lots of candy and your favorite spooky and spirited movies tonight. I'm taking it pretty easy and catching up on some class work tonighy after having a blast with my classmates at our annual Halloween party last night.
Halloween is such a fun holiday and it doesn't have to be spooky! Of course I love a good skull here and there but I shy away from the gore and blood. In keeping light with the holiday, I bough this fun "Trick or Treat Yourself" tee from Riff Riff Boutique earlier this month! RiffRaff is giving 20% off site wide until midnight tonight (use code TRICK at checkout) so feel free to grab whatever you want!
Let me know how you're spending your Halloween night in the comments below!
Fall is finally amongst us here in the south! And by Fall, I mean weather temps that are no longer in the 80s and 90s! Early mornings are chilly and the afternoons are pretty pleasant. With this amazing weather and a few days off from class, I'm sharing a little life update and this Fall inspired look on the blog today!
My second and final year of grad school is off to a bang! Classes aren't nearly as grueling but they do require a bit more outside work than usual. Other than classes, I've been traveling to career fairs and conferences in search of a job! I've had pretty good luck so far but the grind never stops.
Other than school and job hunting, I'm figuring out ways to create more valuable content for you all, so I've jumped on the vlog bandwagon and started a YouTube channel! My page isn't super loaded yet, but once I have more videos up I'll share with you. Until then, you can see what's happening in my daily life over on the 'gram [_margosmith].
I'm a fairly easy lady when it comes to putting outfits together, so I couldn't wait to pair my new cognac faux suede jacket with this all black look. This jacket is just heavy enough to actually keep me warm and to even layer underneath it. You can find similar styles here, here, and here. Not to mention this AMAZING hat from Zara. I picked up this hat while in Mexico early this year and have had to wait over six months to wear it! I snagged my faux suede jacket from TJ Maxx for half the listed price, along with my Sam Edelman boots in Nashville. So many people dread visiting TJ Maxx, but honestly, it's my safe place. I can go in there and find literally any and everything! How are you updating your closet for Fall? Share below in the comment section!
JFK! FDR! Don't touch the floor - it's LAVA!!
Funny story, I was a CeCe to a Schimdt once. Things didn't work out but it was fun while it lasted! I've binge watched all the seasons of New Girl on Netflix and I have to say it's one of my favorite shows. It's hands down one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and I'm bummed out that next season is the last one. *insert sad face* I mean, honestly, how can any of deny that there's a little bit of Jess within us?! And who doesn't love Nick and his hilarious ridiculousness? Let's not forget Winston and his cat, Ferguson! Gosh, I love them.
"True Americans" comes from the drinking game the characters play on the show. Apparently there's a real True Americans drinking game, but the rules from the show are obviously a bit different. You can read about them here and here!
While roaming the internet one evening I found this New Girl shirt on Pinterest. It's from a fun Fayetteville, Arkansas based boutique-- Riffraff. As a fan of the show I knew I had to have it! Despite the fact that I'm in my mid-twenties, I asked my mom to get it for me for Christmas last year. It was honestly the only thing I wanted along with gift cards to Chipotle and Target (I'm a simple woman). My sweet momma got this shirt for me and I know I was the happiest person on Earth Christmas Day!
I wasn't able to wear this soft, fun tee until about 3 months after Christmas and I decided to keep the look simple -- busted knee jeans and simple heels gives this casual tee a little pick up. You could easily style this top with a sassy leather skirt, cut off jean shorts, fun flats or even a pair of sneakers. I've linked this entire outfit above!
I hope you all have a relaxing, binge-worthy weekend! What are some of your favorite shows to binge watch? Leave your answers in the comments below!
Obviously I'm still in Mexico in my mind you guys! I wore this look for a fun day of shopping in Playa del Carmen. We took a collectivo from Tulum into the city (about an hour ride + various stops along the way) and ended up at Paseo del Carmen shopping center.
There's actually a cool story behind this outfit. I won this shirt through an Instagram giveaway with BlaineBowen.com last year completely on a whim! I'm not really one to enter IG giveaways-the odds of winning are slim to none most of the time- but this time, the giveaway was super simple.
They posted a picture of where they most recently shot their new lookbook and asked where we thought it was. The picture was of Joshua Tree National Park (I've been there before!) and I answered right! They graciously awarded me with a gift card to their website and I picked this cute sugar skull top. Once I knew I was headed to Mexico for a week, I knew it'd be perfect to wear!
I decided to pair the top with white jeans and these fun, blue suede espadrilles my mom picked up for me from TJ Maxx. The espadrilles are by Fabiolas and they have an amazing collection online. I wasn't able to find my exact pair, but you can check out similar styles here, here, and here. She also grabbed this trendy pair of reflective sunnies too!
My saddle bag is out of stock as well, but I purchased it from ASOS last year. It's the perfect size bag to grab when traveling. It holds all my essentials like chapstick, sunnies, wallet, and cell phone without being too bulky. You can shop similar styles here and here.
Hope you all have a great rest of the week. Be on the look out for more Tulum vacation posts and I'll be recapping my most recent trip to NYC late this week and next week!
It's officially spring and I am loving this warm weather! I can finally pack up my "winter" coats and put the booties away and pull out fun skirts and strappy sandals.
I picked up this flirty, floral skirt during my recent trip to Mexico. My friend and I knew we had some down time before our cooking class later in the evening, so we hopped in a colectivo (Mexican shuttle service) and made our way into the city of Playa del Carmen. They have this great shopping center, Paseo del Carmen, we knew we wanted to check out. They have your typical American stores like Old Navy, the Nike Store, and Starbucks. Better yet, they have both Zara and Zara Home! We definitely did some damage in Zara!
Right as we walked into the shopping center we stopped in this store called Bershka. It's a Spanish department store with trendy pieces for both men and women. The best store I can compare it to here in the States is H&M. The vibe is very hip relaxed and all the associates had great style! Plus, when you pay for things in Mexican Pesos it doesn't hit your wallet as hard, lol!
No matter where or when I shop, I head for the sale/clearance racks and sections first and this time I was rewarded! I found this flirty, floral print skirt and knew I needed to bring it back with me. I don't have too many soft or feminine pieces in my closet right now, but I feel this adding this skirt to my closet is the perfect way to start to soften things up.
The Jacquard skirt is completely embroidered with flowers in the most delicate and cohesive way possible! It features a fun little (emphasis on little!) ruffled hem and a concealed side zipper. Be sure to size up when ordered (European clothing tends to run a bit smaller than US clothing).
I opted to keep the look simple by pairing it with a light-wash denim button up and tie-up nude sandals for an easy spring look. What are you most excited to wear this Spring? Comment below!
